EXCEPTIONAL, FUNCTIONAL DESIGN
Input to the chair’s unique ergonomic features came from
users with special needs such as users with back problems,
weak wrists, arthritis etc. The design team also consulted ergonomics and back-pain specialists as part of the design
process. This has meant that the chair is a comfortable
place for anyone to sit irrespective of age, height, girth and
physical condition. It’s a matter of the chair’s breadth and
the seat angle, plus its height, the armrest and footrest, its
easily adjustable backrest and a lumbar pad that follows the
In keeping with the spirit of democracy under which it was
created, the chair is available with a fixed and a revolving
frame in a range of heights.
1. LUMBAR ROTATION POINT
The chair’s back follows the hips’ rotation point automatically
as you lean back. An integrated lumbar pad provides
additional support and follows the contours of the chair.
The width of the seat, makes the user able to “move about” whilst still sitting comfortably.
2. BACKREST ADJUSTMENT
Step-less backrest adjustment with controls integrated in
the chair armrest.
Designed to be stable and easy to grip – helping the user to
get up from the chair.
4. SEAT DEPTH / SEAT HEIGHT
The breadth of the seat makes it easy to move about in such
that the user can relax in a number of different positions.
The seat height comes in two heights: 42 cm and 46 cm for the four-legged model and a seat height of 46 cm for the model with swivel legs.
5. NECK SUPPORT
i-SIT features a neck support that can be raised and lowered
to match the height of the user.
A foot rest provides additional comfort in the reclined position.
